Presenter Profile: Sonja Hoeke-Nishimoto
Sonja has been employed by the Family History Library since May, 1985. She has bween a professional Germanic and Slavic researcher since 1982. She recived her Accreditation in German research in 1988 and her Swiss accrediatation in 2006. She is especially interested in the eastern provinces of the old German empire. Areas of research include Germany, Switzerland, Poland and Austria. Of special personal interest to her is the region of Silesia where her mother's family is from and Saxony, where her father's family is from.
Sonja has spoken at various Genealogical conferences in the U.S. and also in Poland and is an author of several genealogical reference books. She was born in Frankfurt/Main, Germany and immigrated as a child to the United States growing up in Minnesota and California. She has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
